The endocannabinoid system (ECS) consists of cannabinoid receptors, endogenous ligands
and the biosynthetic and metabolic enzymes for their formation and degradation. Within the
gastrointestinal (GI) tract, the ECS is involved in the regulation of motility, secretion,
